October was a busy and invigorating month for the mock5 team. Several of our team members traveled to design conferences across the country to sneak in some continuing education and inspiration before our clients’ end-of-year projects started ramping up for the fourth quarter.
Charlotte, Erin, and Vina visited Las Vegas for the much-anticipated Adobe MAX conference. With keynote speakers including Annie Griffiths (one of the first female photographers for National Geographic), Mark Ronson (musician), and Jon Favreau (director, writer, actor) to name just a few, inspiration abounded at Adobe MAX 2017.
Vina was especially drawn to the discussions and demonstrations of the new full-version release of the Adobe XD CC, an all-in-one user experience solution for designing websites, mobile apps, and more. She is confident that this new software will be an incredibly useful tool in our digital design work and is looking forward to integrating, prototyping, and designing in XD, as we continue to push ourselves ahead of the digital curve.
Gretchen, Jess, and Tori also flew to Minneapolis to attend AIGA’s annual conference (that’s AIGA, the professional association for design, for the uninitiated). AIGA 2017 also drew an impressive list of speakers, including design and marketing professionals from brands such as Airbnb, Target, 3M, Google, Chobani, and many more.
Active in our local AIGA Philadelphia chapter, Jess was attending the national conference for the first time this year, and she was hooked. “I felt so refreshed and like I could do anything after [I returned home]. The conference really helped generate an incredible amount of ideas for me and I can’t wait to make these all a reality,” she said.
Jess is particularly looking forward to sharing all of the new artists, books, and podcasts that she learned about at AIGA with her fellow designers at mock5. Always one to go above and beyond, she’s also working on compiling a list of her favorite speakers from the conference videos available online (thanks, AIGA!) to share with the team so that we can take part in some inspiration self-study, as well.
A few of the other key takeaways for Jess from this year’s conference were:
